With a company motto of “Building Our Community One Wall At A Time,” Affordable Plastering, Inc. aims to offer a quality and affordable service. “Our work is done with integrity and formed to high standards,” Owner William Warren said. Warren and his wife, Amy, began the business in the fall of 2005. Services provided include plastering, drywall, exterior insulation foam systems, painting, repair work, Spanish lace and remodeling work. “Affordable Plastering, Inc. exists to provide quality remodeling services to Fort Wayne and its surrounding communities at affordable rates,” Warren said. Warren began his work in the construction industry when he was 16. He wanted to earn some extra money, and a friend started to teach him various building trades. Warren learned about siding, concrete, framing, drywall and plastering. Warren joined the Plasterer and Cement Mason Local # 692 Union when he was 26. “I refined my skills through the apprenticeship program, and in my third year became a foreman,” he said. He continued to work in the construction trade, and in early 2005, he began to explore the possibility of starting his own business. Warren said that through Affordable Plastering, Inc., he “seeks to give back to the community and provide a quality service.” “It also enables me to instill in my own children the work ethic I was taught,” he added. He would like to pass the company on to his children, Brooke, 11, and Jordan, 7. Warren said he would like to expand the business to incorporate general contracting. He would also like to hire apprentices who wish to learn a trade and develop a strong, valuable work ethic. Another aspiration is to hire full time staff for sales and management, which would allow him to be in the field 100% of the time. “The biggest challenge in running the business is doing the business operation side of things, as opposed to doing the actual work. Learning the different computer programs and trying to balance sales and field work can sometimes prove to be time consuming,” he explained.
